As of 2026, Cal Mock Trial’s fall invitational tournament AAMTI (Average American Mock Trial Invitational) will be renamed AMMTI (Art’s Memorial Mock Trial Invitational) to honor the legacy of one of our extraordinary coaches, Arthur Shartsis, who passed away on July 14th, 2026.

For many years, Art served as the program’s head coach, mentoring generations of mock trial students and coaching countless teams to success. He helped shape the lives of the students he worked with through his generosity, encouragement, and belief in their potential. He was deeply invested in the program and in every competitor’s success, even opening his own home for team practices.

Art’s impact on our community continues to be felt, and we are proud to carry his legacy forward through AMMTI.
