Avni Wadhwani is a Case Manager Paralegal for one of the largest certified race harassment class actions in California’s history, representing thousands of Black former and current employees at Tesla’s Fremont factory in their claims of race harassment against Tesla. Avni manages all communications to clients and has filed eight separate lawsuits on behalf of hundreds of employees seeking damages. She strives to be a part of a justice system that is transparent, communicative, and efficient.

Avni grew up in the Bay Area and attended Mount Holyoke College for undergrad, where she earned a B.A. in Politics and minored in Economics. Avni graduated magna cum laude and with Department High Honors for her honors thesis, which examined the most effective political approaches to passing incarceration reform legislation at the state level in Michigan. In college, Avni competed on the student-run University of Massachusetts, Amherst’s Mock Trial Team for three years. Over the course of her mock trial career, she earned four individual attorney awards, including one All-Regional Attorney Award from the 2020 Rhode Island Regional Tournament at Brown University. She served as Director of Social Engagement of the program from September 2021 to May 2022. During undergrad, Avni also helped coach her high school mock trial team, helping lead Piedmont High School to an undefeated record and the championship title at the 2021 Alameda County Philip A. Harley Memorial Mock Trial Competition.

Avni began coaching at UC Berkeley during the 2025-2026 season. Avni works with both returning and new members. Avni primarily coaches Berkeley’s split-stacked Blue Team, alongside Darius Parakh. To date, Darius and Avni’s teams have been successful at both the regional and national level. Post Regionals in 2026, she also coached Berkeley A, which advanced through ORCS with an 8-0 record (1st place) and competed at Nationals with a 6th place finish.

When she’s not coaching mock trial, Avni likes to run, read, and try different wines. She recently raced her first marathon in Big Sur.
